Data deletion

Deleting your data

You can delete what The Poindex holds about you at any time. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Instagram and X data in Social

When you connect an Instagram or X account to Social, it keeps: the connection (access tokens, your account ID and username), the posts you choose to bring in with their captions and links, the numbers it syncs (views, likes, comments, shares, saves), and Poindexter's reads of the account.

Either of these deletes all of it:

  1. In Social: open Social → Accounts, press Disconnect on the account, and answer OK when asked whether to also delete everything Social pulled for it. You get a confirmation code.
  2. In Instagram: go to Settings → Apps and websites, find The Poindex and press Remove. Instagram tells The Poindex, which deletes the same data straight away and gives Instagram a confirmation code and a link where you can check the request's status.

What you wrote yourself in Social (plans, captions typed there, numbers entered by hand) is not platform data and stays until you delete it or your account.

Everything else

To delete your whole Poindex account and everything in every section, write to james@james-poindexter-iv.com from the email address you sign in with. It is done within 30 days, and you get a reply when it is.

Backups

Deleted data can remain in the database's point-in-time recovery for up to 30 days, after which it is gone for good. It is never restored except to recover from a failure.
